Kenya beyond the Mara
Most visitors to Kenya see only the Maasai Mara. This itinerary shows you how different the rest of the country can be. Meru is green and wild, with rivers lined by palms. Samburu, in the dry north, is home to species found nowhere further south, such as reticulated giraffe and Grevy’s zebra. Solio is a private conservancy with one of Kenya’s highest densities of rhino. Then the Mara brings the big cats and the vast open plains. Light aircraft connect the areas, so you spend your time in the wild rather than on the road.

Days 1–2 · Nairobi & Meru
Arrive in Nairobi, then fly to Meru National Park for game drives along its palm-fringed rivers.
Days 3–4 · Samburu
Fly north to Samburu for the special species of the arid north and the Ewaso Nyiro River.
Day 5 · Solio rhino conservancy
A private conservancy below Mount Kenya, home to large numbers of black and white rhino.
Days 6–7 · Maasai Mara
Fly to the Mara for big cats and, in season, the migration.
Days 8–9 · Zanzibar
Fly to Zanzibar to relax on the beach.
Day 10 · Departure
Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
