Ideal for
Families, active travellers and the curious
Springs flowing from the escarpment make Mto wa Mbu unusually green, and the town has drawn people from many of Tanzania’s ethnic groups to farm its rich soil. On easy bikes you follow quiet paths through banana groves and irrigated rice paddies, stopping to meet farmers, see how local banana beer is brewed and watch woodcarvers at work. The ride is flat and suitable for most ages, and your guide sets the pace. You finish at a family home for a lunch of local dishes such as plantain stew, rice, greens and beans. It is a relaxed half day that adds a human side to your safari and supports the local community directly.
