Best time
July – October for crossings
Ideal for
Add-ons · Short breaks
The Maasai Mara is one of the best places in Africa to see predators. Its open grasslands make lion, cheetah and leopard easy to follow, and the surrounding Maasai-owned conservancies limit vehicle numbers, so sightings feel far more private. From July to October the migration arrives from the Serengeti, and the Mara River becomes the stage for the famous crossings. Outside those months the resident wildlife is still superb, and prices and crowds are lower. We recommend staying in a conservancy, where you can also enjoy night drives and guided walks.
