First safaris · Migration
The Maasai Mara and the Serengeti are two halves of a single ecosystem, divided only by a border the wildlife never sees. Between July and October the great herds spill north into the Mara and back again, crossing the Mara River in some of the most dramatic wildlife scenes on earth. This route lets you experience both sides: the open, cat-rich grasslands of the Mara with its Maasai conservancies, and the vast scale of the northern and central Serengeti. We finish in Tanzania’s highlands, in the Ngorongoro Crater for black rhino and lion, and in Tarangire, where hundreds of elephants gather along the river in the dry season.
